Governor Newsom signs CA Grown Bill AB 778
Governor Newsom signed AB 778. This will require state institutions to purchase 60% CA grown food products when in season. It is a small step, but we are happy the conversation has begun to keep food grown in California. Also, the Governor has signed SB 490, The Buy American Food Act. This bill will require schools to purchase CA food products when in season and if the price difference is no more than 25% for CA grown vs non-domestic food.
