UnitedAg Awards $82,500 in Scholarships to 82 Deserving Students Statewide
IRVINE, Calif., (AgPR) March. 15, 2019 – AJ Cisney, Chair of the Board of Directors for UnitedAg and the Education Committee (AEF), announced that the Directors awarded 82 scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The AEF scholarship recipients were selected based on both merit and need. This year’s top scholarships were awarded to Ashlyn Geiger member affiliated with McCorkle Farms, proud recipient of the Maurice McMillan Award. Pedro Zepeda member affiliated with Moody Western Cooling, recipient of the William C. Goodrich Scholarship.
This year’s scholarship awards range in the amount from $250 to $6000 for this year’s recipient of the Maurice McMillan Award. In honor of UnitedAg’s founder William C. Goodrich, the Education Committee has established a new award that recognizes agribusiness majors. The recipient of this year’s award will receive $4,500. The scholarship funds are for use during the 2019-2020 academic year. The scholarship can be used for tuition cost, fees, books and room and board. Previous UnitedAg scholarship winners have earned degrees and taken their place in management, government, market development and foreign trade, with many working in agribusiness.
Since its first award in 1989, the Agribusiness Education Foundation has awarded over $1.4 million in scholarship monies to 887 students.
